Celebrating the Queen’s 90th, iChild style

mum life child cupcake decorating

Arts and crafts are fast becoming a new favourite activity in our house at the moment. Since the arrival of our new baby, we have spent a bit more time at home and so I’ve embraced more indoor activities to keep the toddler entertained when baby is sleeping or mummy is just plain tired.

We were excited to receive an iChild pack recently that was full of activities to help celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. (Last month my daughter became very enthusiastic about the Queen’s birthday when she made a crown and I’ve heard ‘Happy Birthday Queen’ many, many times since…)

I was interested to learn about iChild as it provides free educational resources for parents along with teachers and carers of children aged 0-11. The online activity packs, which can be easily downloaded and printed, have been created by educational consultants using a child-centric approach to learning. It’s great to know that resources like this are just a click away when looking for something to do with your little one.

The Queen’s 90th section on the website includes a wide range of printable activities including create your own birthday hats, cards, bunting, crowns, invitations and even pictures of the Corgis to colour in. There’s also a competition on the  iChild Facebook page where you can win a party pack and a couple of other goodies.

We were sent the party pack which included a few of these printed activities along with some birthday themed items to helps us decorate our cupcakes. As you can see by our snaps, we had a lovely afternoon decorating our cupcakes and designing our own colourful bunting. My two-year old enjoyed getting creative with the bunting and waving the cake topper flags.  She was fascinated with watching the lantern being made (this required lots of cutting so was a mummy only task) and the cupcake decorating was a big hit.

I’ll admit the cupcakes did not last very long after the pictures were taken…

Happy Birthday Queen, from the Mumlife family!
